Wagner SprayTech Corp. is a market leader in advanced paint applicators. It develops and markets a wide array of painting and decorating products used in home improvement, commercial painting and industrial fine finishing. They make it easier to prepare surfaces, apply paints and other coatings, and clean up after painting. Wagner supports its customers through innovation, high tech engineering, quality manufacturing and service.
Context
In order to help boost engagement numbers on their social channels Wagner wanted to do some product giveaways. In order to determine which channel would be better to do similar giveaways going forward we did one on Facebook and then one on Instagram. We did not run the giveaways at the same time on both channels, so we were able to promote the giveaways across all of their social channels, sending users to the platform the current giveaway was running on. Each giveaway ran for a week and the same budget was used for a promoted post on the channel running the giveaway. The giveaways were simple, all users had to do was a tag a friend in the comment section of the post and they and their tagged friend would be entered. At the end of the week we totaled up the number of entries and used a random number generator to pick the winner.
Results
Since the idea of the contest was to increase engagement, we totaled the number of comments and likes on each post. Even though they have quite a few more followers on Facebook, we saw a slightly better engagement percentage on Instagram.
